Chiefs place G Duvernay-Tardif, S Watts on IR

The news is not perfect for the unbeaten Kansas City Chiefs. The 5-0 Chiefs placed two players on injured reserve Tuesday, with head coach Andy Reid revealing that starting left guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif and safety Armani Watts will both head to IR and be out for at least eight weeks, per the designation.Per ESPN, Reid believes Duvernay-Tardif will return at some point this season after suffering a broken left fibula during Kansas City’s 30-14 win over Jacksonville on Sunday. Five-year veteran Jordan Devey (37 career games, 15 starts) is expected to start at left guard in the Chiefs’ Week 6 matchup at New England. The rookie Watts had been listed on last Thursday’s injury report with a groin issue prior to the Jaguars’ game and he departed Sunday’s contest in the first half and did not return. His absence leaves the Chiefs with three injured safeties in addition to Eric Berry and Daniel Sorensen.
